All's well that ends well

Well that's it! It's all over folks, I no longer have a child at Primary School. It's amazing how that time flies, how those little preppies become big personalities. I must admit i did NOT shed a tear but my bottom lip did tremble...a bit. Not sure why, i guess because he's so ready for a new school adventure I must be too!

And on the home front I had the lovely Justine pop in to give me some blog assistance. It was a brief visit but worth every minute, and i can see the beginning of a wonderful friendship with a tecno twist! Thanks Miss Justine. Now i'm off to explore the wonders of christmas shopping, armed with a scribbled list and a bold resolve to stay calm and within the borders of sanity.

Can't help myself

What started as an experiment has been resolved into a nearly four metre garland, using scraps from the above quilt top. These four blocks are part of an ongoing "secret" project i'm involved in with my 2 aunts, sister and cousin. The secret being we make a quilt top for each other without the recipient really knowing what's going on behind her back.... secret in a nice, unsneaky way. So while Aunty Sue thinks we're making a quilt top for Gina, we are in fact whipping up one for Aunty Sue..... They are very easy blocks to sew, no rules, inspired by the Quilts of Gee's Bend and a lot of fun to make. We all swap fabrics, add some vintage and some new new. And of course you end up with a huge pile of scraps...hence the garland project. And i'm not finished. I think i have a few more metres in me yet!

some stitching going on....

but not of the crafty kind....more like suturing. Nothing like a dash to hospital and an emergency appendectomy to brighten up an otherwise dull wednesday evening! Not me, my youngest and he's a trooper (surgeons words), considering it was burst, 'n all! So no crafting for me, no hurrying to finish anything before santa-o-clock. I'm taking it easy with my family and feeling pretty grateful for modern medicine and top nurses/doctors etc. Maybe a slight bit of tinsel strewing and pine-needle sniffing. Back soon.
